Investigations by our friends at Pindula News suggest that the University of Zimbabwe has reviewed its tertiary fees to more than $5 000 and Chinhoyi will be asking at least some students to pay fees of around $10K. This fee hikes appear to be unofficial at least for now but expect to pay them as it’s unlikely the government will reverse these.
These institutions already have unofficial approval
The Minister of Higher and Tertiary institutions has revealed that the government is in the process of approving the hiking of approving tertiary institution fees. He also revealed that despite what the government had been saying earlier fees will be hiked to more than $5 000.
Every State university is governed by Government and there are no fees increments that were approved for any State universities as we speak.
Yes, the fees will be adjusted. Our adjustments will be based on processes we follow and people will be informed. We have reports that some tertiary institutions such as Mutare Polytechnic, Great Zimbabwe University and Midlands State University have increased their fees without Government approval.
