Yesterday President ED Mnangagwa did a micro cabinet reshuffle. Fortune Chasi is now the Minister of Energy and Power Development. Before this promotion, Hon Chasi was the Deputy Minister of Transport. Meanwhile, the former Minister of Energy, Joram Gumbo, was moved to become Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in charge of Implementation and Monitoring.

Energy is a hot potato right now
What cannot be denied is that there is an economic as well as energy crisis in Zimbabwe. The ministry of energy has become embattled in recent weeks. On top of fuel shortages that have persisted for the most of this year they now have to deal with powercuts.
I can safely say whoever is in that position is not going to be having much sleep given this situation. Public reactions on Twitter were mostly mixed. One person pointed out that Hon Chasi had been handled a live snake given how the ministry is under public scrutiny he cannot afford a misstep.
