It would appear that the roughly 24 000 boarding places available at boarding schools have been filled up. Chances are if you or your child don’t already have a boarding place secured you are unlikely to get one. Not from a popular school at least.
About 76 000 pupils who were hoping to get a boarding school place were left in a lurch according to the new Minister of Education Cain Mathema. There were about 100 000 primary school graduates chasing these 24 000 places.
The nation has 24 000 boarding places. We estimate that about 100 000 learners are seeking boarding places.
Those who will not be successful in securing boarding places will, therefore, be accommodated at day schools in their school zones.
