According to Mrs Thumisang Thabela, the Permanent Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education, June examinations for ZIMSEC will start on the 29th of June this year and will run until July 22. This follows the government’s announcement last week that they really wanted June Advanced Level and O level students to write their exams in June.
This week ZIMSEC made two important announcements concerning the issue of the June 2020 and November 2020 public examinations. Nick Mangwana the permanent secretary in the ministry of information, publicity and broadcasting services ( we will just call him Secretary Mangwana from now on), has been quoted by Health Times as saying that Zimbabwe’s schools will probably only reopen in August because of the coronavirus outbreak that has the entire world including Zimbabwe in lockdown.
Those who had intended to sit for the ZIMSEC examinations in June need to prepare themselves for a possible postponement. Even the government-owned Sunday Newspaper seemed to hint on the possibility that the exams will be postponed. This almost certainly means that the exams will be postponed.
As has already been said ZIMSEC has created an online portal that allows those who want to register for this year’s June and November examinations online despite the current ongoing lockdown. We now have more details on how this arrangement works.
